Each year, Runway to Hope hosts a Beauty and Boys bash on one weekend before the Annual Spring Fashion Soiree. Our core team, committee members, and amazing volunteers create these special days, giving the children and their families a much needed and well-deserved time away from hospitals, doctors, treatment, medicine and the other challenges they often endure on a daily basis. Much like the Runway to Hope Spring Fashion Soiree, these events create a moment in time when cancer does not take center stage in their young lives. This year on March 10th & 11th, for our Nintendo themed Bashes, it was quite obvious that the kids quickly felt transformed into another world. From the moment they entered Bloomingdale's Orlando at The Mall at Millenia, they were immersed with Mario and Luigi's finest. They were able to participate in many activities including make-up, face-painting, hair styling, eyelash designs, airbrush tattooing, lunch complete with sweet treats, and most importantly the selection of each runway-ready outfit. With a volunteer in tow, fashion selections, wardrobe changes and alterations were the call of the day as each child readied themselves in anticipation for their big fashion debut on the runway. Our magnificent sponsor, Bloomingdale's Orlando, and their immensely kind-hearted staff not only opened their doors to more than 150 children and their families, but they also generously donated the outfits to every child so they would feel and look their best on the special night! The styles chosen by each child were as individual and unique as the personality of each of them. A special and heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful individuals, companies, volunteers, committee members and members of the Central Florida community who helped make these days so special and memorable. Without all of you, these events would not be possible. Your support and generosity truly touched the lives of so many in ways you may never know but which you will be forever blessed.
